Dog Lovers to Descend on Merrion Square in Support of Greyhounds AT NOON on Saturday, September 21, 2013 celebrities and dog lovers from across Ireland will descend on Merrion Square for a peaceful walk and tribute aimed at raising awareness and support for the welfare of Irish greyhounds. This event has been organized by Greyhound Rescue Association Ireland (GRAI), an organization dedicated to promoting retired racing greyhounds as pets. The walk will formally begin at 1.00pm, and all are welcome to attend. Those with dogs (any breed), are welcome to bring their pets to the walk, which will last approximately one and a half hours. Una Phelan spokesperson for GRAI said, “We are calling on the people of Dublin and all over Ireland, to open their hearts and homes to greyhounds and ask that they join us on the walk to see for themselves what wonderful pets greyhounds make.” Many of Ireland and the UK’s most well-known celebrities have also pledged their support of GRAI and the Walk for Greyhounds, such as Sharon Shannon, Lenny Abrahamson, Cathy Davey, and Neil Hannon. English comedian and actor Ricky Gervais declared, “It is my hope that Irish dog lovers everywhere, along with their pets, will turn out in large numbers to walk in unity alongside the greyhounds to make the point that greyhounds are for life and companionship. I wish the Walk for Greyhounds every success!”

Could you please post the following message on your wall;
The past three days my co workers and I have come accross a stray kitten at Mill Lane in Listowel; which is behind the Garda Station.
The kitten is very distressed and can be heard crying all time. Heshe crawls up underneath car bonnets for heat and is in danger of getting killed.
I saw the kitten for the first time this eve. Heshe is about two or three months old and is very very distressed and his/her eyes seem to be covered in a discharge. I tried to call him/her this evening but he/she was so scared that he/she ran underneath another car nearby. As I dont live in the area I had to leave.
If someone in the locality could look out for this poor little mite and give him or her some food water and shelter. He or she is very very scared and all alone.
Its Mill Lane, Listowel, thats behind the Garda station.
- Sponsor A Stable in our new Isolation Unit
The new AHAR Rescue Centre, which…Sponsor A Stable in our new Isolation Unit
The new AHAR Rescue Centre, which we are currently fundraising to purchase, is a former Equestrian Centre with 30 acres of land including a Stable Block, arena and outbuildings located near Castleisland in Co Kerry.
As part of our fund-raising drive, at the start of May we made the 28 stables in the main block there available for sponsorship. We are thrilled that all of these stables are now sponsored!
There is also a separate stable block of four stables which will be used as an isolation unit at the new AHAR Rescue Unit (one is pictured above) and to cater for any new equine arrivals at the new premises of those horses/ponies which might be sick.
So, we are now making these 4 isolation stables at the new AHAR Rescue Centre available for life-time sponsorship (with a plaque on the door commemorating the sponsor) for a once-off donation of €1,000. Stables can be sponsored by an individual, business or a group of family members or friends.
If there is anyone who would like to sponsor one of the four stables in the isolation unit outright for the full €1,000, then you can do so through the following link – http://on.ahar.ie/stable
We are also setting up a new Stable Syndicate for those who can’t afford to sponsor an entire stable but would like to contribute towards one of the stables in this vitally important isolation units.
There are 50 'shares' available in the ‘Isolation Stable Syndicate’ for a donation of €20 each – you can buy one or multiple 'shares' through the following link – http://on.ahar.ie/isolation
We will list all donors when the Syndicate is full and thank you in advance for your support!
