Thanks to Lorraine Fortune, these 5 pups are safe at AHAR. They were locked in a shed with nine months. Today we found out one of the females is in pup to her brother. I feel sick in my stomach. What vile excuse for a human would one… lock them in a shed for nine months and two, let them breed???? There is not a day in rescue, that I don't sit back and be so ashamed of the human race!!!

This fluffy bundle of joy is Shadow. He is looking for a new home, because the foster carerer has not enough room to keep him. He is vaccinated, neutered and wormed and house trained.

He is fine with most dogs but gets n better with calmer small ones. He would be good with bigger children as he can get bossy. He loves cuddles and loves snuggling to watch the tv in the evening. He is good on the lead and loves long walks.

He is NOT at ahar but in Co Cork. If interested please phone Martina on 0877682654. But only genuine owners please. Thank you and please share.

We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us, with a number of sponsored events for AHAR coming up soon, starting of course with the sponsored tandem skydive in Galway this Saturday 7th September (from 12.00pm onwards at the airport) – full details can be found at http://ahar.ie/skydive/

Then there are two sponsored events for AHAR taking place on Sunday 15th September.

The Evening Echo Women’s Mini Marathon takes place in Cork at 1.00pm and to register, please go to the following website http://www.eveningecho.ie/minimarathon/# and select AHAR as your chosen cause. This is very much a fun event – participants can run, jog or walk the 4 miles involved. Children are most welcome. And many men take part in fancy dress also!

Donna Goldsmith has kindly offered to co-ordinate all the AHAR participants so once you are registered, please send your individual registration number and contact details to her at donna_goldsmith@hotmail.com. Donna will arrange for sponsorship cards to be sent to you, and she and her friends have also very generously offered to provide an AHAR t-shirt to all those running on our behalf so hopefully we can get a fantastic group shot on the day.

The second event on Sunday 15th September is a Sponsored Climb of Carrauntoohil, the highest peak in Ireland. Located in County Kerry, it is 1,039 metres (3,414 ft) high and is the central peak of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks range. Guides have been arranged for the day, there are well walked routes to follow and if the weather is kind, the scenery will be stunning.

This event is not being organized directly by AHAR, so if you have any queries or require further information about the event, then please contact Majella Leahy (who has very kindly organised it) directly by email at majellaleahy@hotmail.com or text/phone on 085 1494012, and she can also provide sponsorship cards.

So get your running shoes or climbing boots on, raise some sponsorship and enjoy a wonderful day out on 15th September in either Cork or Kerry, with all the proceeds going to the purchase of our new permanent premises for the AHAR Rescue Centre.
