Another success story for AHAR equines.
Again this pony was in the hands of the meat man less than a week ago.
Kevin Carney adopted Buster tonight. Kevin who works for Tralee Equestrian centre was so excited to have such a classy pony. Buster jumped a four foot railing from a standstill as we went to catch him. Boy were we impressed. Watch this space, another grade A is on the move. Thanks to Tralee Equestrian centre who are always willing to help AHAR. XX

We picked up Ben in Wexford also yesterday. Thanks to Lorraine Fortune who was told that Ben had spent ten years living in a garden with a make shift shelter. Lorraine offered to get him help and now he is safe here with us. New life on the way Ben, thanks to Lorraine and Denise Hoben who contacted AHAR xx

Yesterday, we delivered Flicka to her new home in Enniscorthy. As we dove into the Georgian residence, with a courtyard of stables like something out of Pride and Pregudice . My heart melted. Just less than a week ago, Flicka was in the hands of the meat man. Now she was in a top eventing yard with an accomplished rider with almost priceless horses some from as far away as Belgium. As she walked out of the horse box, they all raised magnificent heads over freshly painted doors with regal names engraved. At that moment, Flicka looked like Cinderella before the ball. Her dull non manicured hooves, her shabby coat and her tangled mane. But even then you could see the Hidden Princess beneath her working clothes as she stepped out with power and grace to meet the eyes of her equine peers.
To this day, I have brought many a pony to grade A, (showjumping) and I can see a star, beyond their mud and shame.
Flicka will go to the top. Especially now in the hands of Claire O'Brien.
Thank you so much Claire, for taking an ex death row pony under your wing. I hope she does you proud xx

For those looking for a means to donate to AHAR, we have this beautiful antique butterfly brooch up for a prize draw, with all proceeds to go to the capital fund for the purchase of permanent premises for our new Rescue Centre.

At the moment we are based in rented accommodation and the new property, on which we have already put down a deposit, is a fabulous former equestrian centre comprising 28 stables, many other outbuildings and 30 acres of lands. As well as giving AHAR a much needed forever home, it will allow us to rescue and re-home even more thousands of dogs, horses and other animals each year.

The draw will be taking place tomorrow (Sunday evening) and you have got to be in it to win it!!

You can buy one or multiple tickets (at a cost of €10 each) for the butterfly brooch prize draw at the following link – http://on.ahar.ie/butterfly

The brooch is exquisite, valuable and would be a beautiful piece of jewelry to win, whether for yourself or as a special gift. The body and head of the butterfly are made of blue opals, there are four rubies in each wing and two emeralds, all set on gold. There are also small diamonds on its wings and it comes in its original Mappins and Web case.

Thanks to all those who have already entered the draw – the winner will be a very lucky person!
