Maria, Amanda, Frank and James came to AHAR today. Passion got reiki, they brought dog food and the whole family just joined in like they were always a part of us. Poor Frank walked every dog that was handed to him even the ones who dragged him down the drive and back. Such a super family. Thank you for visiting AHAR, ye were a blessing xx

We need to get a 6 year old GSD up to Belfast to her forever home. She has been with us for a while and a lovely woman up there has offered to take her. So we are asking is there anybody going there or part of the way or can we sort out some kind of relay with this old girl that needs her home… at last.

We got a lovely update today on Mac – a gorgeous but very timid white and black springer which we re-homed with Clodagh Kerrigan and her lovely family (including dog Nando also pictured here). Mac was meant to be for Clodagh's mum but he had other ideas as you can read!

'Hi guys, little update on Mac, for the first few days he stayed with us (me, Shane, Christian and our dog Nando). My mom was away over my sisters wedding so we took care of him… The dog that came to us is nothing like the dog we have now, hes gone from being a bag of nerves and wetting himself to a bundle of energy… When the radio is on he sings along to the music, hes completely lead trained and is such a happy boy… The downside is we tried to give him to my mom a week later but he howled and barked until we came back for him, she tried walking him but he pulled her around the 7 miles, when they got back home he continued to howl… So my poor mom is left without a dog but I'm delighted to say that Mac is my boy now (though we say we have joint custody!). I think Mac knows we took him home, he has so much fun with Nando and is doing fantastic.

So thank you all at AHAR for giving us the joy and love of Mac. PS Any tips on stopping him from knocking me over to kiss me!! Clodagh'

So well done to Mac on adopting Clodagh and her family and thank you so much for giving him a wonderful life!

Delighted to report that the 'Passion and Arion Stable Syndicate' is completely full, with all 50 'shares' gone in less than 24 hours – a record for any of our Syndicates.

And here, just in case you missed it first time around is a picture of Arion taken earlier this week when the gorgeous Eva came to visit with her family.

A month ago Arion couldn't be photographed, he was so shy, let alone be touched. In fact he wouldn't come close to any of us for two whole months after arriving in early June, simply guarding Passion's stable at night and then walking behind her whenever we took her out for a stroll.

But just look at him now, look at the recuperative power of love and kindness. Look at a dog who now is no longer terrified by human contact and realises that the world is not such a horrible, scary place after all. Our feral, scared collie has been transformed and never is that better illustrated than by this beautiful picture.

So a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the 'Passion and Arion Stable Syndicate' – to recognise the amazing bond that formed between these two formerly lost souls. It so fitting that the incredible 'War Horse' Passion and her guardian angel collie Arion will be commemorated for ever at our new AHAR Rescue Centre.

The full list of donors is – Julie Angland, Fiona Shekleton, Isabella Leah & Erica Gleeson, Amy Chaney, Eileen Parker, Fiona McCord, Amy Assinder, John Pender, Catherine O'Leary, Maria Bradley, Niamh Kerrigan, Clare Cousins, Aideen Gilchrist, Seamus Heneghan, Mick & Sue Barclay, Paula Glackin, Madeline McKeown, Barbara White, Aisling Goodwin, Julie Mackie, Brid Cullinan, Mairead Monaghan, Debbie Byrne, Jean Rowan, Connie Moran, Cathy Matthews, Jacqui Kilmartin, Sarah Hassall, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Gwen Price, Aimee O'Shaughnessy, Gayle O'Riordan, Caoimhe Roche, Maureen Dunn, Soraya & Holly, Angela McEvoy, Aine Keane, William MacNamara, Mary Morrissey, Nick Boisson, Jana Poller, Carol Hetherington, Mary & Pa Knowles, Alison Owen, Lorraine Sullivan, Jennifer Carling, May Crawford, Marie O'Connor, Barbara Cotter, Elizabeth Hickey, Kristyna Smyth, Janet Carlile and Noreen Harrington (plus Coco & Robbie)

Apologies for any spelling mistakes but hopefully no omissions! All the proceeds from this 'Passion & Arion Sponsored Stable' will go towards the purchase of our permanent new premises. Our new Rescue Centre is a former Equestrian Centre with 30 acres of land including a Stable Block, arena and outbuildings, near Castleisland. As part of our fund-raising, we have made the 28 existing stables available for sponsorship. (Life-time sponsorship with a plaque on the door for a once-off donation of €1,000). 27 of the stables have been sponsored and just 1 is still available – so please get in touch by private message if you wish to sponsor the last one outright.

Or if you just wish to donate towards our capital appeal and ensure that Passion, Arion, Dottie Pottie, Honky and more importantly all the thousands of future animals we rescue each year can be based in a bigger, better, permanent home, then you can contribute any amount, however large or small through this link – http://on.ahar.ie/capitalappeal

Fancy a spot of late night shopping?

Well, we have received this lovely friendship bracelet to auction, with all the proceeds going to the AHAR capital fund for the purchase of our permanent new premises – our forever home for the AHAR Rescue Centre.

It is a beautiful designer bracelet by Astley Clarke, made from Amazonite and gold vermeil with a heart gold charm. It is very dainty and suitable for any age. It would make a great present for a special family member or friend. It has never been worn.

The original value of the bracelet was £225 (sterling) and it is available for a minimum donation of at least €150 – please private message us if you would like to purchase it.

So you can get yourself (or someone special in your life) a lovely bracelet and make a donation to AHAR in the process!
