Just a reminder that the legendary Mick Hanly is doing a fund-raising gig for AHAR this Friday August 16th (9pm) at O'Riadas Bar – half way between Castleisland & Tralee.

Mick was once described by Garth Brookes as 'an awesome singer and songwriter'. Well, the great news is that you can catch Mick in action, appreciate his talent and help AHAR to save a lot more animals while enjoying a great night out.

Every cent made on the night will go to AHAR – tickets from O'Riadas Bar or phone 0667137761.

Please share this post & looking forward to seeing you there

Just a reminder that a week today we will be holding our prize draw for you to win a stunning pet portrait (retail cost of up to €150) – it could be of your own pet or perhaps it could be a special gift for a pet owner you know.

Tickets for the draw cost €10 and you can buy as many as you like via the following link – http://on.ahar.ie/hartnett

The lucky winner will get their pet portrait done (in the style of their choice) by Irene Hartnett of Real Appeal Portraits. You don't have to live locally as she can do the portrait from your favourite photos of your pet. Check out Irene's fab work on her website http://realappealportraits.com/ including dogs, cats & horses. This is a dog portrait of hers.

As well as the first prize, there are two beautiful framed pet prints worth €100 each as 2nd and 3rd prizes. So it's a draw not to be missed and of course all proceeds will go towards the purchase of AHAR's new permanent premises.

Back at the end of June AHAR were thrilled to re-home 3 wee pups to three families who were great friends around the Lisburn area in the North thanks to a complicated transport run which involved Sharon Shannon taking a detour en route to a gig to drop them off!!

The three siblings were part of a litter of 9 which were left abandoned at AHAR’s gates. Sadly, several of them were suffering from a nasty gastric disease and 3 of them didn’t make it. But the other 6 fought through their illness and these 3 have well and truly landed on their paws with their respective wonderful families. The 'wee pups' have grown up so much and are looking fantastic!

Pictured here (from left to right) are Tracy (with Rosie – the dog with the white chest), Nicola (who kindly sent us the photo) with Tracy’s son Dean, Marion with her dog Emer (short for Emerald) and Nicola’s son Jamie with Poppy. They were all here having a wonderful day out at the local dog park and we can’t thank Nicola, Tracy and Marion enough for reaching out to re-home them from so far away.

With so many pups being abandoned at AHAR’s doors at the moment, it’s wonderful to get happy, positive updates like this about some of those who are now enjoying the wonderful life they deserve. And here's hoping that all our current residents can be found equally fantastic homes!

Re-posting this with the picture the right way up this time!

We have been very kindly donated a Yamaha electric guitar with amp, strings and case to auction, with all the proceeds from its sale going to the AHAR Capital fund for the purchase of our permanent new premises. Thank you so much to Maria O’Carroll for the donation.

The guitar is second hand but is in perfect condition (other than a small scratch on the back) as it was only ever tried twice before Maria decided she preferred acoustic guitars! It cost €299 new and would be great for a beginner.

If you are interested in this Yamaha electric guitar, please post under here or private message us your offer through this FB page. We will accept offers of at least €100 with the highest bid received by 9.00pm tomorrow (Monday 12th August) winning out – or it can be purchased straightaway for a minimum donation of €200.

And please SHARE if you know any guitar loving friends or someone looking to learn!

Thank you so much to Maria for your donation and do please send us a private message if, like Maria, you have any prizes or items that we could raffle/auction.

Half of the 50 ‘shares’ have been snapped up in the 'Dottie Pottie Stable Syndicate' – meaning that just 25 are now left!

But Dottie Pottie has taken this poor (toy!!) duck hostage and won’t release him until the other €500 has been raised – so please help us to set the duck free!!

'Shares' are available for a donation of €20 each – just log on to http://on.ahar.ie/dottiepottiesyn if you would like to join it. You can take one 'share' or multiple 'shares', it’s up to you.

Dottie Pottie is Suzanne's very special boy, having been rescued from death's door when he was left outside AHAR’s gate as a 6 week old puppy some two years ago. He was covered in lice, eaten with worms and severely dehydrated having being left in a plastic lined box. Suzanne minded him like a baby and nursed him through his initial ailments and then even more challengingly through the trauma of the vet having to drain a pint of fluid from his tiny head (caused by encephalitis).

As a result Dottie is a special needs dog – he walks into walls, loses his balance and falls over and, as you can see, he is prone to kidnapping toy ducks! But more importantly he is the happiest, friendliest dog in the world. All he wants to do is to greet everyone who visits AHAR with hugs and kisses. His paw print is the official seal of welcome at AHAR!

He is a constant reminder that a little bit of love goes a long way and that is why we would love for his name to be commemorated for ever at the new AHAR premises with his very own Sponsored Stable – so please consider joining his Syndicate through this link http://on.ahar.ie/dottiepottiesyn

All your donations will go directly towards the purchase of our permanent premises – thank you so much for those who have joined the Syndicate already. We will list all donors when the Syndicate is full.

UPDATE – Delighted to report that this has been purchased by Rachel Whittome! Thank you so much Rachel and of course to Ann-Marie Ryan who donated it also.

Now we have an auction item that is very much for the ladies – or a gift for the special lady in your life! It’s cream Hermes shawl, like a large wrap that you would wear around your shoulders to a wedding or function.

Hermes is one of the most exclusive designer brands and this is a very special item. Thank you so much to Ann-Marie Ryan for the donation!

Its approximate value is £300 (sterling) and it has never been worn or even taken out of its Hermes box.

If you are interested, please post under here or private message us your offer through this FB page. We will accept offers of at least €200 with the highest bid received by 9.00pm tomorrow (Monday 12th August) winning out – or it can be purchased straightaway for a donation of €300.

All the proceeds from its sale will go to the AHAR Capital fund for the purchase of our permanent new premises, so not only will you be getting a beautiful designer shawl, you will be helping us on the way to our new forever home!

21 of the 50 ‘shares’ are already gone in the 'Dottie Pottie Stable Syndicate' – meaning there are now just 29 left!

'Shares' are available for a donation of €20 each – just log on to http://on.ahar.ie/dottiepottiesyn if you would like to join it. You can take one 'share' or multiple 'shares', it’s up to you. We will list all donors when the Syndicate is full.

She minded him like a baby and nursed him through the trauma of having a pint of fluid drained from his tiny head by the vet (caused by encephalitis).

But despite all he has been through and his condition (he is a special needs dog), Dottie Pottie is the friendliest dog in the world. All he wants to do is to greet everyone who visits AHAR with hugs and kisses, and there aren’t many people who have escaped without Dottie leaving a paw print on their clothes as a memento!

In fact, this picture is of a paw print which Dottie kindly gave as a souvenir to someone recently!

Dottie Pottie is an inspiration to all who volunteer at AHAR.

He is a constant reminder that no matter what you have suffered, no matter how bad your own condition, a little bit of love goes a long way to making the world a better place. Would that every human had as much love in their heart as Dottie. And that is why we would love for his name to be commemorated for ever at the new AHAR premises with his very own Sponsored Stable – so please consider joining his Syndicate through this link http://on.ahar.ie/dottiepottiesyn

All your donations will go directly towards the purchase of our permanent premises – our very own AHAR forever home – at which Dottie Pottie will be only too glad to welcome you
