Another little Jack Russell is looking for a home

He is currently living on the doorstep of a woman (Polly) who has been very kindly feeding him and even treated his eye infection. But she can’t keep him with two female boxers of her own in the house.

This is what Polly has to say – “He's an adorable young boy, 18 months to 2 years old. Very loyal and eager to please. He's been following me on my dog walks, right behind my feet the whole way and sleeping on my doorstep. He doesn't run off at all. He pays no attention to my cat and is fine with my boxers but I already have a house full. He'll be a loving and loyal pet to someone bless him. When he turned up he was thin with weepy eyes; I've treated his eyes successfully and am feeding him but he needs and deserves a home soon please!''

If you’re interested, please call Polly directly on 087 0550038 – she lives in Clashmelcon near Causeway (Ballyduff) Co Kerry.

A big thank you to Pa Knowles who helped out at the Dog Show yesterday. Pa put up this little Gazebo. He started at 7 in the morning and just had it finished for 2. I'd say when Pa was little( many, many years ago) we was not too good at jigsaws. Not even the two piece ones. But many thanks Pa for your help and hope you got home safe at 12 last night after you managed to take it down. 🙂 Ted.

And of course a huge thank you to May Crawford (left) and Mary Knowles (right) plus their families who put so much effort into organising AHAR’s Fun Family Dog Show yesterday and then for manning our stall on the day, and to Ted Cronin (our man with the megaphone). Plus the judges and everyone else who helped out either in advance or on the day. (Great to see an appearance from celebrity Brian the snail and some of his siblings also!)

Next year we intend to hold our Fun Dog Show at our new premises where thankfully we will have the option of retreating indoors into the big arena should the heavens decide to open!

Well despite the best efforts of the weather to drown everyone (at one point Noah appeared to rescue all the dogs two-by-two!), our fun family dog show in Tralee town park yesterday was a great success – thank you to everyone who braved the elements and many congratulations to all the categories winners. Hopefully lots of rosettes being proudly hung up at homes last night!

Mick Hanly is one of Ireland's best Singer/Songwriters in recent years and is best known for his song 'Past The Point Of Rescue', which went to number two in America with Hal Ketchum. It was also a hit with Mary Black as was 'My Love Is In America'. 'Awesome singer and songwriter, one of the best songwriters of his time, try and catch him', real words, acclaimed by the renowned Garth Brookes. Well, the good news is you can catch him. Mick is kindly doing a gig for Animal Heaven Animal Rescue on Friday August 16th at O' Riadas Bar which is halfway between Tralee and Castleisland and is only minutes away from our new Animal Rescue Centre to be. Gig begins at 9pm, costs only €15 and there will be plenty of grub included and spot prizes on the night. Every cent of this €15 goes to AHAR. Tickets can be got from O'Riadas Bar or contact them at 0667137761. The lives of many Animals will be saved due to this gig and thanks to Mick and O' Riadas. Please support and thank you. Ted.

Just 4 'Shares' now left in the 'Stable Syndicate for Windy and her lost Pups'

We only need 4 more people to sign up at €20 each or one donation of €80 and we will have completed our Stable Syndicate for Windy and the 6 lost pups who tragically died after she was dumped, left starving and weak, when about to give birth.

You can take one €20 "share" or multiple “shares”, it’s up to you, through the following link – http://on.ahar.ie/windysyn

Commemorating Windy and her 6 lost pups at the new AHAR premises will serve as a permanent reminder of the precious souls whose lives couldn't be saved due to the terrible cruelty that AHAR is sadly faced with overcoming far too often, although thankfully the vast majority or our rescue cases end well – and of course Windy is getting stronger by the day and she still has 3 beautiful pups who she is taking great care of.

As many of you are aware, we are currently fund-raising to buy a permanent future home for AHAR. Our new Rescue Centre is a former Equestrian Centre with 30 acres of land including a Stable Block, arena and outbuildings. One of the key components of our fund-raising drive is that we have made the 28 existing stables available for sponsorship. (Life-time sponsorship with a plaque on the door for a once-off donation of €1,000). 24 of the stables have now been sponsored and 4 are still available, including this one reserved to pay permanent tribute to Windy and her lost pups.

We will continue to keep you up to date on progress and, as normal, list the all donors when the 'Windy Syndicate' is full.

Renowned Visual Artist Jim McKee has very kindly offered us one of his timeless oil on canvass paintings for AHAR to sell and to keep ALL the proceeds. The stunning picture is entitled Farmer’s Lament, is 31 x 39 inches and will be framed. Thank you so much Jim for your amazingly generous gesture – we are blown away by your kindness!

Jim's paintings have sold in the region of €5,000 – €10,000 per piece. To own a Jim McKee painting is almost certainly a wise investment. The following Irish notables have invested in his paintings over the years: President Michael D. Higgins, Actor Patrick Bergin, Musician Frankie Gavin, Musician Sharon Shannon, Singer Mary Coughlan, Glenstall Abbey, Bank of Ireland Galway, Bank of Ireland Dublin, Irish Rugby Manager Eddie O Sullivan and many more.

This is a previous quote from Tom Kenny of Kennys Gallery in Galway – "Jim McKee is self-taught and fearless with paint. He has developed a personal and recognisable style, imbued with life and energy and colour. He uses a palette knife, virtually playing the oils like a musical instrument, and the results are humorous and honest, impressionistic renderings and reflections of Ireland today, its passing traditions, its people and its landscape".

We have set a reserve price of €3,000 for this stunning one-off piece by Jim McKee. Only offers at or above this price will be considered. Please private message us if you are interested. We appreciate that the cost will be out of many people’s range, but for those who can afford it, you will be buying a wonderful work of art at a price which should make it an excellent long-term investment also. And, of course, your money will go in its entirety towards the Capital appeal for the purchase of the new AHAR premises and will bring us a huge step forward in our quest.

Want to experience the thrill of a lifetime and raise money for AHAR in the process?

Then why not join the 10 celebrities and 18 other AHAR supporters who have already registered to take part in the TANDEM SKYDIVE for AHAR, which will be held in Galway on Saturday 7th September. ‘Tandem’ means that you will be securely strapped to an experienced skydiver who knows exactly what to do! So you can just enjoy the ride!

In order to take part in the jump, you will need to raise a minimum of €480 (€240 of this sum goes to Skydive Ireland for their expenses/insurance etc, while all other monies raised go to AHAR).

Celebrities already confirmed for the jump include our wonderful patron Sharon Shannon (whose idea it was!), Frances Black, Maura Derrane, Honor Heffernan, Brian Kennedy, Kate O’Toole, Eleanor Shanley, Alain Cawley, Edel Fox and Sile Seoige.

But this is very much open to everyone and we would love YOU to take part. It will be a real fun family day out at Galway airport with lots happening on the ground, so if you’re in two minds about whether to sign up or not, be brave and take the leap!! The sooner you register, the sooner you can start fund-raising for AHAR!

Full details of the event and how to register are here – http://ahar.ie/skydive/

We are mega excited about this and we hope that as many of you as possible will join us for this great bit of fun and excitement.

Finally, if jumping out of a plane just isn’t for you but you would still like to help us to make this venture worthwhile, please consider sponsoring one or more of those already signed up to do the Tandem Skydive for AHAR – the full list of participants registered on idonate is here if you click on the ‘Our Fundraisers' button at the top –

Windy's past is heart-breaking, as many of you will have read this past week. She was found abandoned and severely malnourished on the point of giving birth. Soon afterwards she had a litter of 9 pups but 6 of them were too weak to survive, despite her tragic efforts to lick them back to life.

This gorgeous boy is looking for a home.

He is a 17-month old Jack Russell X who is vaccinated but not yet neutered. He is playful, friendly, good with kids and would love a big garden to play in, although he does dig the occasional hole!!

His current owner is very sad to be in the situation of having to find a new home for him due to personal circumstances so please just share his photo and help us to find him a home rather than commenting on that.

If you need further information or are interested in him, please contact Theresa on 086 2288540 (lives in Kilcummin near Killarney) as he is not currently with AHAR.

Let's try to get another beautiful boy a home.

UPDATE – This girl has been re-homed this morning. Her name is Nessie and she is very excited to be back with her very relieved owner – another happy ending and thanks to Brian who took her in, cared for her and got in touch with us so promptly.

Help us to find the owner of this beautiful lab girl, who was found wet and a bit disheveled on someone's doorstep in Tralee this evening (Killeen, Oakpark area). She is otherwise in good condition and very friendly. She was very kindly taken in and given a bed for the night but she can't be kept by the person in question.

Please SHARE this post with any friends in Kerry and especially Tralee and hopefully we can re-unite her with her owner. She was wearing a collar but with no name on it.

Please post here or send us a pm if you think you know the owner.
