Sean Taaffe hair and beauty salon in Killarney have doing a bit of fundraising for us over the last couple of weeks. They are still doing it and are going to Belfast with the next one.

They have raised over …€800 for us. Now we think that is fantastic and want to really thank them so very much. This comes at a time when our day to day running costs are proving a real struggle to make ends meet. So this will come in very handy.

All proceeds on the day will go to AHAR – no appointment is necessary but you can call/text 083 4129386 to secure a booking in advance (the Salon will be open from 10.00am to 5.00pm on Friday 12th). Available treatments will be wash & blow dry €10, nail paints €5, nail file & paint €7, 2-week manicure €15. Refreshments and treats will be available to visitors!

Well the exciting news is that star Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy will be attending on the day to draw the raffle winners – tickets can be purchased at the Indulge Beauty and Ballybeg Hair Salon – €3 a line (5 tickets) or €5 for 2 lines – with some great prizes on offer, including lunch for 2 at the garden cafe at the amazing 5* Dunloe Castle, a fabulous Ogra skincare hamper and a hot stone massage followed by a wash & blow dry!!!

So please go along and support this great initiative – and maybe get to meet Kieran Donaghy!

I admire all of their compassion and dedication to the animals and especially their great work with horses in particular, thank you Alain."

Our next skydiver is Alain Cawley.

In recent seasons the Galway native has gained widespread attention as one of the most promising young National Hunt riders in the weighing room. Riding as Paul Nolan’s main jockey, he really shot to prominence in the 2009/10 season, riding three Grade 1 winners in quick succession. With some potent ammunition at his disposal, Cawley is improving all the time and looks set to continue to rise up the ranks in the years ahead.
