    Friends of AHAR Patron Update – our target for the month of June was to reach 190 Patrons (donation of €100 or more) – delighted to tell you that we have already beaten that and are currently at 194, just 6 away from our new target of 200 by the end of the month. All proceeds go into the Purchase Fund for the new Rescue Centre (30 acres of land and great outbuildings including an indoor arena and 28 stables).

    The new Rescue Centre will have a hugely positive impact on animal welfare in Ireland and is vital to safeguard AHAR into the future – we are currently on a rented farm. You can become a Friends of AHAR Patron by going to http://on.ahar.ie/patron – be part of the dream, thank you. Tom

    Yesterday we got a call that a mare on death row in a northern pound had foaled so they asked us would we take her. Of course we said yes and asked is there more? I was told three more.
    So we booked them all and made a plan to deliver some equines(that were booked) to their new homes on they way up and spare fuel by doing it all in the one day.
    So….first we loaded the ex pound donkey foal that Gina from Paws rescue in Co.Tipp has taken under her wing. (photo next)

    Walk for Greyhounds postponed due to G8 Summit

    "I regret to inform you that due to increased security in Dublin City Centre relating to the G8 Summit, the Gardaí have advised us that Walk for Greyhounds is unable to go ahead. The Gardai are advising that all events are cancelled on this date. The team are extremely disappointed to hear this news and we are in discussions with Dublin City Council to set a new date for the Walk. It is likely that the event will now be rescheduled for Sunday 22nd September, 2013 in Merrion Square, this will fit with GRAI's annual meeting on Saturday 21st September in Dublin. Updated information regarding the rescheduling of the event will soon be available on our website at www.grai.ie and on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/grai.ie"

    I was just going through the emails and found this one Suzanne got last year. I said it would be nice to share it. It brought me to tears. Good night again . Go to bed Suzanne, you have a long day tomorrow. ;;;;;

    Timeline Photos
    Hi Suzanne,

    Remember me? It's Buster. We met at the dog pound, u were the only one who stopped at my door to admire me, everyone else walked by, I guess cos I was old and looked shabby I'd seen better days, but the years were hard on me I was always cold with little food, my body was weak I could barely stand,I tried to stand up and look proud hoping ud take me with u, by the time I stood up u were gone,my heart sank, I lay down again tears welled up in my eyes……… my time was up, nobody wanted me…….. then I heard u laugh and open my gate, u bent down and held my face and said ur safe, I'm here. U carried me to ur jeep. U then went back for five more dogs all with the same loving care,we all were saved. U brought me back to health, I can't believe I can run , I'm strong and fit like I was young again. U gave me back my pride and I'm loved for the first time, thank you for my beautiful home and kind owner, I'm old and won't have long but these memories will last forever, and when I die, I will protect u,

    all my love

    Buster x
