New Rescue Centre Update…On March 1st we commenced our Fund-raising campaign as we look to raise €100,000 to secure a mortgage on a new Rescue Centre. For anyone new to our page, just to let you know that we have placed a €20,000 deposit on the property, a former equestrian centre, with 30 acres of land and several out-buildings including a large arena with 28 stables. (We are currently on rented property).

Our last update was on May 31st and at that stage we had raised €50,710 and were half-way to our Target. We are delighted to announce tonight that the Purchase Fund now stands at €54,418 and this is down to you and the incredible support you are giving us.

How can you help? In the past few months we have utilised lots of different ways to raise funds but the two ongoing regular fund-raisers at the moment are the Friends of AHAR Patrons Scheme (donation of €100 or more) – you can join by going to http://on.ahar.ie/patron and the Sponsor a Stable Scheme (life-time sponsorship for a once-off donation of €1,000), 16 of the 28 stables remain available for Sponsorship and this can be done at http://on.ahar.ie/stable.

We have 192 Patrons at the moment; we want to reach at least 200 during the month of June. Two of the twelve stables that are already sponsored have been sponsored by “syndicates”, in each case 50 people donating €20 each – could you pull a syndicate together at work? If we could get another 5 stables sponsored by the end of the month that would be fantastic. Also we are looking for 6 people per month during July, August, September who will locally organise a Sponsored Walk for AHAR, we will send you a Walk pack with Sponsorship Cards and Posters, just send pm or email tom@ahar.ie for details. These initiatives will have a huge impact on our fund-raising, if you can help please get in touch with us.

With your ongoing help and support the animals entrusted into our care have a chance, they have a future – the new Rescue Centre is vital; it will positively impact on animal welfare in this country. It’s our dream, we know from your posts and comments that it’s your dream too, together we will make it happen. Thank you as ever, Tom

17 hrs to go for Romeo and Juliet's major surgery. Oh I have butter flies the size of dragons!!!

Bonita after just five weeks with her amazing new home with Barry Smith.

    Thanks Barry xx

It was a long night but we had a little fire going outside her stable with her door open so she could be part of it. We talked all night as she listened. So now she knows all our plans about the new property we would like to buy. All our dreams of a stable with a hoist to lift horses like her professionally.
Now more than ever I need your help to fundraise so we get to the 1st of October with the deposit for the bank loan.
If we can do all this work with nothing but love and determination, what could we do with this new premises?
Passion is full of life this morning. Neighing and demanding not to be left alone. Even if its just to get her water.
She is now getting a bed bath, to cleanse her wounds. We have a vet nurse coming at 6.30 to administer intravenous meds and check her over.
Her eyes are battered, bruised and looks like she is constantly crying . She looks bad on the outside but she has a strong heart and is really fighting to live.
She is so special. You would just have to meet her. I love this girl. I can safely say, she has a home with AHAR forever.
She will be perfect for pony rides to raise funds and educate people with her story.
She is now the horse face of AHAR. To remind us what they suffered during this recession.
Passion, we all love you. Get better soon, we have so much to show you my sweet girl xx

Every time I have a piece of my heart broken. It just means another star in the sky. We all need a bit of hope in this cruel world. Our sky needs to be lit up to show people we are not afraid to fight animal cruelty. We are here, we will expose you. Its only a matter of time.
