New Rescue Centre Update…we are now 3 months into our Fund-raising campaign as we look to raise €100,000 to secure a mortgage on a new Rescue Centre – as you may know we have placed a deposit on the property, a former equestrian centre, with 30 acres of land and several out-buildings including a large arena with 28 stables.
At the start of May we set ourselves three targets…
1. To get to 12,000 “likes” on Facebook – we are now at 12,943,
2. To get to 175 Friends of AHAR Patrons – we are now at 179,
3. To get the Purchase Fund to €50,000 – we are delighted to announce tonight that our Purchase Fund now stands at an incredible €50,710 and we are half-way there. (Our Bon Jovi moment!).
We have 4 months remaining to raise the balance and with your help and support we will do this. The new Centre will give us so much more space and will dramatically reduce our running costs, we will be able to keep more of the horses on site (and will spend less on hay), our transport costs will be reduced and we will be able to run education courses, dog training courses, show-jumping events etc., all of which will help finance AHAR into the future.
Two ongoing fund-raisers at the moment are the Friends of AHAR Patrons Scheme (donation of €100 or more) – you can join by going to http://on.ahar.ie/patron and the Sponsor a Stable Scheme (life-time sponsorship for a once-off donation of €1,000), 16 of the 28 stables remain available for Sponsorship and this can be done at http://on.ahar.ie/stable (we also have a Stable Syndicate going for Sam the Lab, AHAR’s first Pound Rescue Dog, now 18 and still going strong, there are 24 €20 “shares” left in the Syndicate, the same Stable link can be used if you want to join).
Our fund-raising team are working hard to secure the €100,000 once this is achieved (and it will be) our efforts will then focus on fund-raising to secure AHAR into the future. Day to day running costs still have to be met on an on-going basis and we are working hard to strike the right balance between securing the future and dealing with the present. Our short-terms targets by June 30th are to increase our Facebook “likes” to 13,500 (please share our page with your friends), to increase our Friends of AHAR Patrons to 190 and to get the Purchase Fund to €62,500 – all challenging but achievable with the right spirit, belief and motivation.
You can help secure this new Rescue Centre; you can help create a positive environment for animal welfare for decades to come, you are the most important part of Team AHAR, thank you, Tom

This is the view from my bedroom window. Two of the ponies lying in my back garden under the clothes line. The picture is poor as the fog is bad here tonight. But it says it all to me. Peace.
Tonight I felt like I wanted the world to stop spinning so I could take a step back for just one minute. To catch my breath.
Too much cruelty in a short space of time really does affect you. It showed here tonight with all of us.
I was in tears today.
But you know what? My friends of AHAR came like the army they are and lead me back to reality. Thank you.
They call it team AHAR, its some team.
What would I do without you xx
