Ones of joy for AHAR and heartbreak for our poor friends Jen and Paul.
We will be putting a plaque in his memory in our new kennels. He will never be forgotten by all dog lovers for eternity.
Hold onto your friends tight. Life is very short, and god always takes the angels first, for he needs their wings to watch over the rest of us.
Thanks to all our friends who support us especially in times of sadness.

Jennifer Emery who runs Comfycare dog rescue in the UK who has helped so many Irish pound dogs has just lost her beloved husband Paul.
Im really stuck for words as this has come as such a shock. He was only a young man, with a heart of gold and loved each and every dog they saved.
Jen we are all thinking about you and your kids. Especially little Isabel. There is no words we can offer that can ease your pain but i do know there will be many dogs waiting to walk by his side to guide him on his final journey.
Paul you will be in our hearts and prayers. Till we meet again, my friend xx

Hi all, Tom here with a fundraising update as promised and what an update!
Since we announced our plans to purchase and develop a Rescue Centre on March 1st we have now received donations totalling an amazing €21,185 through our Friends of AHAR Patrons Scheme (donations of €100 or more) which takes us beyond our Phase 1 target of €20,000 which we required as a deposit. We now have 95 Patrons and on behalf of all of us involved with AHAR, a huge thank you for your contribution, your support and your faith in our resolve to purchase and develop the Centre.
We expect to place the deposit by the end of the month (as some of the money donated is through a bequest and will take a couple of weeks to come through to us) and are now pushing on to Phase 2 of our fund-raising campaign which involves raising a further €80,000 in order to secure a mortgage on the property.
Once the deposit is placed we will disclose the location of the centre and show you amazing photographs of the land and outbuildings.
Our fundraising walk is coming up on April 21st in Killarney National Park – please send pm if you can take a sponsorship card for this – while we will have top comedian Jon Kenny in concert in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney on Saturday May 4th. We will continue to seek new Patrons as this aspect of the fund-raising is vital to our success. Please continue to share our updates with your friends, all support is welcome.
If you or anyone you know would like to become a Friends of AHAR Patron you can do so by going to this link http://on.ahar.ie/patron
