Time to say good night,, Tom here. A quick thank you to everyone who "liked" and shared over the weekend – we have gone from 7,500 likes on Friday to 9,076 right now. I will give you another update tomorrow night on how our fund-raising is going (we will feature in The Kerryman newspaper tomorrow and Kerrys Eye on Thursday which will help spread news of our plans).
We would ask anyone who can to become a Friends of AHAR Patron as this aspect of our fund-raising is hugely important to us – all funds donated through the Patrons Scheme are for the purchase and development of the new Animal Rescue Centre.
Please consider teaming up with family and friends to become a Patron, every euro counts. Our target is to raise the €20,000 deposit by early May and we have had a great start but still have a fair bit to go.
If you would like to take some Sponsorship Cards for our Walk in Killarney National Park on April 21st please send me a pm or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. To help us with distribution of the Cards we would love if we could get 50 people to step up and take 5 cards each for themselves and their animal loving friends – all help appreciated and this would really share the workload.
Thank you so much, Tom

Three weeks ago we rescued a lovely collie type in Kerry pound. She was so thin and the worst part she was in pup. Well we fed her well and thank god she gave birth safely to seven healthy pups. Mother and puppies doing very well, just so sad that we have seven more babies to mind. Seven more dogs to add to this world all because someone??? Didnt spay their dog but were well able to dump her in the pound to be on death row not knowing if she would live or die… disgusting.

This gorgeous collie x male has been neutered & vaccinated in Killarney (last vaccinated about March last year). He is a lovely friendly fella and through no fault of his own he has to be rehomed as his owners moved home and because of there being no proper space for him outside he is getting stressed. He is 3 years old and well trained. Please phone Brian on 0857055017

These kind Ladies love each other with all their hearts. Where one is, is the other. Penny has gained a decent amount of weight already, and there is a new spring to her step. She comes when called ( the treats do help though) and Valentina follows suit. If she can't get near Penny her frustrating screams can be heard throughout the valley.Tina's rain scald is getting there, no weeping or anything, just dry scalds which I am removing carefully a bit every day.yesterday i had the pleasure of seeing Valentina cantering up the hill..she is getting used to the fact that she can actually use her feet to do more than careful stepping. Both girls will stay with me for the rest of their lives.
Wicklow lost or found animals
Please beware strangers at your door or dropping leaflets…. Dog fighting gangs employ "spotters" to scope for suitable dogs for fighting, blood bait or breeding, report unusual cars/vans in the area and keep your dog out of sight when answering the door to strangers. Dog theft is epidemic and this is how they find the dogs. Beware!

Hi all, Tom again, I am just reposting our recent Announcement for all of our new "Likes" (we have increased by 800+ over the weekend) – please read and share, thank you.
Suzanne here, well the time is here…I’m putting my heart on my sleeve. I’m going to share my dream with you. For 33 years of my life I’ve dreamed of a state of the art rescue, a place where I could save the unwanted animals of Ireland, a place to be proud of, a place that would keep AHAR safe forever, long after I’m gone. I’ve never even seen the path to it because I’ve struggled so hard to save every animal given to me.
I hope I’ve proven to people that I am real and that I am in this for the long haul, until the day I die I will never stop saving them. AHAR rescues thousands of animals a year in a rented property and we live hand to mouth, day by day, always struggling but at the end of the day it’s worth it, we save them!
Many of you share my dream but life took you on a different path. Now is your chance to re-live your dream again, I’m asking you to walk this path with me because I know together we can do it. Tears are pouring down my face writing this, my heart feels like it’s going to burst, this is everything to me, everything!
AHAR – The Future…moving to the Next Level
Hi all, Tom here, well the wait is over!
If you have been following us then you know that we are a 100% volunteer run organisation founded by Suzanne Gibbons in 1991 and currently based on a rented farm near Gneevguilla, Co. Kerry.
Our mission is to rescue and re-home unwanted animals and AHAR rescues thousands of animals all over Ireland every year including dogs from various pounds all over the country every week.
Following unprecedented demand for our services over the past year in particular we are now announcing plans to purchase and develop our own state of the art Animal Rescue Centre.
I’ll let Suzanne explain….. “Every week we see more and more animals given up by their owners for whatever reason and the property we are renting is now too small for our needs. We have a strong forward thinking committee in place supporting the work that we are doing and after much deliberation we feel that the time is right to move on to the next level to ensure that as many animals as possible can be taken in, looked after and ultimately re-homed. We have identified a suitable property (land and outbuildings) and have agreed a price with the owner. To make our dream a reality we have to raise €100,000 which will allow us to secure a mortgage on the property and we are now commencing a major fund-raising drive to come up with this and will be looking for animal lovers everywhere to support us. We have recently applied to Revenue for Charity Status which is important for us in terms of future development”.
Tom here again, I am a Volunteer with AHAR and along with a hard working committee share Suzanne’s dream, I will be the Co-ordinator for the Fund-raising initiatives. Here are some of the details of what is coming up in the short-term. As with any purchase there are timelines that have to be met and our immediate priority is to raise the €20,000 deposit that will secure the property for us. With this in mind we will be hosting a Sponsored Dog Walk in Killarney National Park on Sunday April 21st which will be led out by our Patron, internationally renowned musician Sharon Shannon and this will be followed by a concert in the Gleneagle Hotel by top comedian Jon Kenny on Saturday May 4th.
In addition we are also tonight announcing a “Friends of AHAR Patron’s Scheme” whereby members of the public can become official AHAR Patrons by making a donation of €100 or more and a link specifically for this is available on our website (www.ahar.ie). If you wish, you may also record your Patronage in memory of a deceased relative or pet. All Patrons will be presented with a personal Patron’s Certificate and will be acknowledged on our Patron’s Wall which will be located in the reception area of our new property. All funds raised through the Patrons Scheme will be used towards the purchase of the property.
We have a huge following on Facebook (facebook.com/ahar.ie) and will be posting details of how people can get Sponsorship Cards for the walk and tickets for the Jon Kenny Show on our Facebook page in the coming few days.
If anyone wants to help or contribute in any way I can be contacted by phone on 00 353 (0)83 1759327 or by email at email@example.com or alternatively send a pm through the AHAR page. I will keep you up to date regularly on how we are doing.
"Dreams are nothing more than wishes – and wishes do come true".
The Future begins now! Wish us luck.
